Holdem Sharks Play Online Poker

Full ring no limit and pot limit preflop

This game is about patience, especially in early position.  You will soon understand that you will have to fold... A LOT!  This chart is intended for tables with 10 players, if you play at a site where full ring has only 9 players, simply skip UTG.  If you do not know the names of the different positions (like UTG, Middle position, CO and dealer button), you should read my poker terms section.

Like everyone of my preflop charts, you will not find what you should play on the button simply because you need to play A LOT of hands there and you need to adapt.  Attacking blinds from the dealer button is part of poker, do not play tight on the dealer button except against a raise!  Also, like any poker game, you should NEVER EVER open limp!  Let's start with this chart:

Under the Gun (first to act preflop)

Raise with AA-JJ and AK.  Experienced players can also add 99-TT and AQs.

Under The Gun + 1

Just like Under The Gun, but you can add TT and AQ.

Middle position (third to act to 5th to act)

Raise with 77-AA, AK-AQ, AJs-ATs.

If there are 2 or more limpers, you can limp with any pocket pair up to 88, A9s-A5s, suited connectors starting at 56s and any two suited cards both T or better.

Late position 1 (acts just before CO)

Raise 77-AA, AK-AT, A9s, KQ

If there is 1 or more limpers, you can limp with the same hands than in middle position plus sometime K9s, Q9s.  Add 34s and 45s if there are many limpers or players are very weak.

CO

Raise with 77-AA, AK-AT, A9s and KQ

If everyone folded, open raise with A7s-A8s, any suited connectors starting at 56s, any Ace suited, 66 (any pocket pairs or blinds and dealer button folds a lot or if they are weak players) and any suited cards both T or better.

If there is 1 or more limpers, you can call with almost the same hands as in late position 1, maybe a few more especially if there are many limpers or players are weak (like T8s, J9s).

Small blind

Against a raise, be extremely tight, usually reraise or fold.  Defend your blinds against a late position open raise only if you are comfortable with your postflop play or if you have a very strong hand.

Big Blind

Against a raise, you have to play almost the same way as from the small blind.
